How to Prepare Your Home for Professional Photography
Professional photography plays a big factor when it comes to listing your property on the market. Now, while the quality of the photo is important, it’s just as important to make sure your home is clean and organized.
Use the simple steps below to ensure your property is as marketable as possible:
1. Main Living Areas
Make sure everything is tidy and wiped down. Remove personal items such as family photos and holiday decor.
Open all of the curtains and twist the blinds open.
Simple staging is an easy trick that can add interest to any space.
Place decorative items on counters and tables. These may include fresh flowers or fruit, vases, lit cables, etc.
If possible, hide any cords throughout the house.
2. Lighting
Turn on all of the list and replace any bulbs that aren’t working.
3. Kitchen
Remove all of the magnets on the fridge door. Wipe down the countertops and remove any non-decorative items such as dish soap, paper towel rolls, sponges, etc.
4. Bathrooms
Lower the toilet seats, wipe down the sink and vanity. Also, remove any non-decorative items such as soaps, lotions, mouthwash, toothbrushes, etc.)
5. Bedrooms
Make the beds, fluff the pillows, hide any laundry throughout the floor and under the bed. Lastly, remove any personal items on the night stand or on top of your dresser.
6. Exteriors
There are ways to maximize curb appeal even during the winter months.
Hide the lawn equipment, snow blower or shovels. If during the warmer months, get the lawn mowed and sweep the walkways. During the winter months, make sure the driveway and walkways have been shoveled.
Lastly, remove any vehicles from the driveway and hide away the garbage bins (if any).
Properly preparing your home for professional photography can and will go a long way to capture the attention of buyers. By following the tips above, you will maximize the quality of the photos and help secure more showings.
